Currently under construction, the Nexus Center at the Utica Memorial Auditorium is a multi-use sports and recreation arena. With hockey as a primary use, the $55M facility will include three sheets of ice which can easily be transformed into field-based turf surfaces and multi-purpose community event space.
The Nexus Center also features full-service food and beverage service areas, locker rooms, college classroom space, retail space and other multi-purpose areas.
The 170,000 SF recreation and sporting complex supports ice hockey, box lacrosse, soccer, and other field sports drawing all levels of competition from across the U.S. and Canada. The Nexus Center will become the new home of the American Hockey League’s Utica Comets, Utica College men’s and women’s hockey, and the Utica Junior Comets youth hockey organization.
IPD Engineering is completing the Engineering Design for this facility as a team with SSR, Inc., a National Engineering Firm.
