The Rosamond Gifford Zoo is a national leader in animal care, research, conservation, and endangered species. In order to continue their mission, the Zoo enlisted the Project Team to design and build their new $7 million, state-of-the-art animal health clinic. The facility includes treatment rooms, operating rooms, a nursery/ICU, and an animal nutrition/research lab, all with large windows for public observation of the work that goes on to keep the animals healthy.

Also included in the building is a Junior Veterinary Clinic for children to practice newly learned knowledge on stuffed animals and learn through play. The facility expands the zoo’s role as a teaching center for future veterinarians from Cornell University, and exceeds that standards for accreditation by the Association of Zoo’s & Aquariums (AZA). The Animal Health Center is the second largest zoological medical center in New York State, behind only the facility at the Bronx Zoo.

IPD provided the MEP/FP and Structural design services for this new
build.
