Johnson Controls

IPD was hired by Johnson Controls to document energy improvements their company had designed. As part of that, the High School and Middle School’s boiler plant were targeted for conversion from fuel oil to propane to take advantage of higher efficiencies in the fuel combustion.
Our team provided drafting and technical support to assemble and document Johnson Control’s energy improvements, including sealing the building envelope, florescent lighting replacements to LED and power control initiatives. IPD also contributed full MEP engineering services for a complete underground Liquefied Petroleum (LP) storage and site distribution system to support New High Efficiency Condensing boilers fitted with dual fuel burners to replace standard efficiency dual fuel, fire tube boilers at the high school and burner retrofit at the middle school to allow for the change of primary fuel source from No. 2 fuel oil to propane. High efficiency condensing boilers at the high school will allow for lower heating water temperatures which reduces fuel consumption and increases burner efficiency.
