As this project’s engineer, IPD Engineering helped The Spa achieve WELL Gold Certification by designing specific infrastructure elements such as geothermal HVAC, maximized temperature control, energy recovery, and enhanced air filtration. Additionally, our team ensured the systems were effective yet hidden from view to make the building comfortable and energy efficient while maintaining the spa’s aesthetics. Thus, most of the mechanical equipment is in the basement to avoid noise in the occupied spaces, ultimately making guests’ experiences at the spa more enjoyable.
The International WELL Building Institute is leading the global movement to help our industry transform buildings and communities to enhance people’s health and well-being. Being awarded a WELL Gold Certificate means The Spa at the Inns of Aurora met all the WELL preconditions and 40% or more of the optimization features. To be awarded this WELL Certification, the building must undergo rigorous testing and a final evaluation done by the Green Business Certification.
Congratulations to the entire team on this beautiful project!
