SUNY POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE
UTICA, NY
IPD Engineering is providing M/E/P/FP and geothermal system design for this new $27M, 77,000 SF residential dormitory building. Performed as a design-build project in partnership with SUNY Polytechnic, DASNY and the project team, this brand new residence hall will add 250 beds to the campus.
This project is Net Zero Energy Ready and Net Zero Carbon Certified, including all conditions for certification by the International Living Future Institute. The building is designed to exceed current energy codes and will contain the infrastructure necessary to add future renewable energy systems, including connections to a future solar power system. The building would then utilize the same amount of, or less, energy than is produced on site annually.
Features of the new residence hall include “hotel-style” rooms with adjacent kitchens, lounges, study areas and laundry rooms. It is anticipated that SUNY will perform their future dormitory projects in this manner, providing outstanding levels of energy savings and a healthy living environment for all students. Client
