LAKE PLACID, NY
Located in the Adirondack Mountains of Lake Placid, New York, Northwood School is a private college preparatory boarding and day school for boys and girls in grades 9-12 and postgraduate. Since 1905, they have offered rigorous preparation for top colleges in a supportive, structured, small-class setting. The school also offers wilderness skills training, varsity sports, and a broad range of extracurricular activities, including ambitious and highly competitive programs in ice hockey, alpine and Nordic skiing, and figure skating. While the school draws heavily from the extraordinary resources of the Olympic village of Lake Placid and the Adirondack environment, a major facelift of the facilities was needed to enable them to continue to provide the range of educational opportunities for which they have become known. By utilizing our Design-Build approach, VIP Structures and IPD Engineering have been able to transform this extremely run down facility into a state of the art educational center. Not only has Northwood’s enrollment increased since the renovations began in 1997, but the new facilities have earned the praise from the school’s faculty, Board of Directors, parents, alumni, and students.
IPD helps keep K-12 facilities safe for students, from assisting with building condition surveys and five-year plans to supporting major districtwide capital improvement projects.
