Mohawk Valley Health System’s (MVHS)
UTICA, NY
Mohawk Valley Health System’s (MVHS) new integrated healthcare center serves to consolidate St. Elizabeth and St. Luke’s hospitals. The final result will be a 25-acre modern medical complex in the City of Utica consisting of a brand new 373-bed hospital, a standalone medical office building, a 1,550-car parking structure with five parking lots, and an energy center that will provide power for the new healthcare campus.
IPD has designed the state-of-the-art energy center, which is housed within an existing building. The energy facility will include a high efficiency hot water boiler plant, a steam boiler system, a chilled water plant and numerous emergency generators and power systems. Located across the street from the new hospital, a utility bridge with pedestrian access will connect the two buildings together. IPD has coordinated efforts for the energy center with prime engineer SSR and the project architect. IPD is also providing peer review to SSR for work on the main hospital, and will provide onsite services for the duration of construction.
