The Newly renovated Masonic Medical
Research Institute, Take a Look!

The Masonic Medical Research Institute (MMRI) is located in Utica, NY, and studies rare cardiovascular diseases. Our team worked with MMRI to modernize and expand its three-story, 60-year-old masonry building to support its growth and vision. This three-phase project adds a vivarium and new advanced research laboratories, renovates a Genetics Lab Wing, enables MMRI’s diversification into other research fields, and aids in recruiting highly talented medical research scientists to the region.

“The research performed at this facility is internationally recognized, and it’s being performed right here in our backyard.”

Tom Manzo, Vice President of Operations

IPD provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural engineering to support MMRI’s state-of-the-art equipment and systems, allowing the building to meet its research regulations and certifications. The engineering design also accommodates large equipment with reinforced floors and steel.

The new design supports MMRI’s scientists and technicians, led by Director of Research Maria Kontaridis, to dive into cutting-edge research. Since Maria joined the company, MMRI has seen an increase in research and grants, and highly trained researchers have moved to Utica to work at MMRI, helping to grow Utica’s community and economy.
